Hunting is always a great thing to do in your life, and if you do it with your friends, it could be a nicer way to hang out; however, it’s pretty tough to hunt successfully when you aren’t in good shape. Diet and exercise will help you stay in shape. We suggest TRX and Diet to Go, but we’ll get to that in a bit. Did you know one of the main reason why so many people give up or stop during the hunting season is because they in poor shape? The truth is that you have to walk and really move around when hunting, and the only way to cover more ground is to really be in shape for the hunting season.
Don’t let this happen to your this hunting season!
To do this you need to be in shape.
How to get in shape
The best way to get in shape is to start eating healthier, as it’s mainly what you eat that plays a big role to your overall health. Try eating the food from the Diet To Go program, as each of the meals that they offer are of high quality food that can help keep a person healthy. This program has really gotten lots of attention because of the huge results people have, and if you’d like to get that energy to keep on hunting, then this program can help you. Try using a Diet To Go coupon to help save money on the food that you buy. Also to workout with a system like the TRX. This system gives you the overall best workout for your body. If you cannot afford these tools simply running and eating healthy is a great start.
Hunting is a great way to get exercise and even find some great souvenirs, but without the right nutrition, you won’t have the energy to keep going. Stay healthy and you can be sure to hunt longer than usual.
There are some fantastic shooting targets out there, and no doubt your local shooting range shop stocks plenty of them, but your typical range shop will charge you as much as $1 per target! That’s actually quite a lot of money to spend on a piece of paper!
If you buy them online in quantity (for example a pack of 50 or a pack of 100) you can pay as little as 30 cents per target, for precisely the same targets that are stocked at the range! On the website bestshootingglasses.com they have presented several great value packs, including a pack of 50 full size range targets for just $15 for fifty! See the article Best Cheap Shooting Targets for a great selection with links to buy at rock bottom prices.
If you are buying targets to shoot at the range then they should let you take your own, most do, as long as they are the industry standard size (23″ x 35″), if you are buying shooting targets to fire at in your garden then you will also need a shooting target stand. The design shown to the left (anatomy shooting targets) are suitable for competitions as they have a point scoring system, are printed on high quality 60Ib paper, yet are amongst the designs featured in that article, check it out!
So, winter has very much arrived here in Ulaanbaatar, and the temperature has plummeted all the way down to the icy depths of -30 degrees Celsius. Yep, it really is that cold. Before moving here I always assumed that those sorts of temperatures only occur at the poles, but here we are in a city of 1.5 million people, all freezing our balls off (well, 750,000 of us are, if you think about it).
For months my girlfriend has been telling me to buy a good winter coat in preparation for the winter, but I kept putting it off and putting it off until finally, last week, I could go on no longer. I trudged to the local outdoor equipment store and picked up a new jacket based on this Patagonia Nano Puff review. The review made the jacket sound great: lightweight, comfortable and warm. I was sold.
Unfortunately the review on Parka Review was later amended to include the warning that the jacket really isn’t designed for weather below around -20 Celsius. Now this is a problem for me, as the temperature only climbs above -20 for a couple of hours in the middle of the day, and after that it plunges almost 20 degrees until the following noon.
Anyway, this is the jacket I bought:
With a little luck it’ll be enough, paired with a thick sweater, to ward off the worst of the cold until we can leave this place for Thailand in a few weeks.
Some of the best times to go hiking with your dog is in the summer months. Not only can you get exercise but so will your dog from any hiking you do. Hiking with your dog can be a pleasurable activity, so long as you and your dog are both happy with the conditions of the hike. It’s possible for a dog to die from conditions like heat stroke so always take note of a few things before embarking on that summer hiking trip.
First of all, it is important to train your dog for the hike. Not all dogs are fit for intense hikes, but some breeds can be trained. For example, Siberian huskies are fit for long winter hikes, but a chihuahua is obviously not. Start with nearly-flat trails with some obstacles such as rocks, before proceeding with steeper trails. This would improve their endurance and increase the strength of their joints and muscles.
Dog training is not only limited to your dog’s physical condition, but also its response to your commands. Your dog should understand basic voice commands. Otherwise, your trip will only tire you out as you get your pet under control.
Be also aware of regulations covering pets and hiking trails. Some hiking trails specifically ban dogs from hiking with their owners. Meanwhile others, will require your pet to be on a leash the whole time. Consult with the park management to find out all requirements.
Prepare your gear for the unknown. Among the things that you need to prepare specifically for your dog are the following:
Collar and leash
Identification card with picture of your dog if possible
First aid kit
Number of your pet’s veterinarian
Water (lots of it)
Dog food
Footwear (depending on the season and the kind of terrain)
Sun protector
Plastic bag for your dog’s waste
When hiking with your dog, its always smart to keep your pet on a leash unless you reach designated areas where you can remove it. Dogs usually love the outdoors and can easily get distracted by other hikers or animals in the wild. Always keep an eye out for the things on the trail that your dog smells. Allow abundant time for rest and water breaks. Observe signs of distress to see if you should go on with the trip and consult medical attention immediately when in doubt. Dogs can push themselves to exhaustion or until their legs give out, so be sure to watch your dog for signs of this. You can also consult your Vet to see if your dog is in good health for a long hike. Be sure to save money when purchasing anything for your dog through 1800Petmed by using a 1800petmeds coupon code.
Remember that hiking with your dog is more about having fun than reaching the end of the trail or the top of a mountain.
Having the opportunity to hike up a trail for hours just to see some of the most breath taker views is something many outdoors people look forward to. Most people go on hikes during the weekend or holidays. Now wouldn’t it be great if you can not only hike any day you want but also make some money for doing it? This can be done if you have a blog where you write about your travels and adventures. If you look for legitimate work from home jobs with no startup fee, you’ll find that many of them will give you the opportunity to work on your own time. Many of them will allow you to work while you’re at a camp site.
Now if you would rather not work from someone else and just do your own thing, as mentioned, you can create a website or blog and document your hikes. You can post amazing pictures as well as recommend secret spots, hiking equipment and so on. You can even do reviews on the equipment and make money when people buy based on your recommendations. The world that the internet created for us is simply incredible. Making a post while you’re on top of a mountain and being able to make money from it by the time you get back home is just awesome.
I admit it, I am a sucker for a crude joke, a bit of innuendo or some banter with my male friends. I am also a dedicated gardener, with my preferred plant being vegetables of any kind. Therefore can you imagine my delight when I discovered a website that told me I could grow a variety of chili pepper (or chilli pepper in the UK), called a Peter (Penis) Pepper. This pepper plant was apparently voted ‘Most Pornographic Vegetable’ by an Organic Gardening Magazine, and once I saw the pictures of it, it was easy to see why. Peter Penis Peppers can be grown in red, green or yellow, and the majority of them come out looking distinctly like a penis in shape, so much so it is scary. They are also extremely hot in flavour, and are apparently 10 times hotter than a jalapeno chili pepper according to the scoville scale that measures the heat levels of chilli peppers. The site I discovered this article on was a mine of information on growing vegetables at home, and I have bookmarked it for future use. I have also followed the advice on the article How to Grow Yourself a Hot Peter (Penis) Pepper, and managed to achieve a good degree of success. I also gave away a number of my plants to friends who were fascinated by the idea of growing a penis shaped chili pepper. The seeds for the Peter (Penis) Pepper are now increasingly rare and hard to get hold of!! I found my seeds on a specialist site for heirloom vegetables, and I shall definitely grow more of these next year. I reckon there could be quite a market for selling these plants at local car boot sales and fetes, as people are clearly highly amused by the idea of growing a pepper that looks distinctly pornographic in nature. This is definitely one good reason why you should grow vegetables at home
There’s nothing quite like heading out into the woods with nothing but a canvas tent, a few tins of food to cook over a fire and a torch to light the way. What isn’t fun, though, are the clouds of mosquitoes that follow you around everywhere you go.
Whenever I used to go camping I’d take with me a powerful DEET-based mosquito repellent, secure in the knowledge that I wouldn’t be bitten. Unfortunately DEET melts through plastic, so before long I’d destroyed my tent and other equipment.
I decided to switch to a non DEET-based natural mosquito repellent as an environmentally friendly alternative. It took a few years to find a natural repellent that actually did what it claimed, but since I found it I never looked back.
The mosquito repellent I use these days is perfect for the Chiang Mai weather, as the spray is water resistant. It usually lasts a good few hours before the rain washes it away and I need to reapply it, but while it’s on there it does a great job.
My favourite thing about the natural mosquito repellent I use – Repel spray – is the citrus aroma. So many DEET-based repellents stink of chemicals, but this one just smells like perfume. Unfortunately, this lovely smell was quickly ruined by my own stupidity and carelessness. I’d just bought a brand new travel toiletry bag for my latest trip, and I stupidly put my bottle of Repel into it without the bottle cap. After a few hours of walking around with the bag bouncing around my rucksack my new toiletry bag was thoroughly destroyed – though it smelled lovely.
Top tip, then: whether you’re using a DEET based or natural mosquito repellent, for the love of all the is holy make sure to put the cap back on the bottle before you put it away.
Every year after Labor Day my family starts the great Halloween debate – what will we wear for costumes? We like to have a theme for the entire family. Well this year it’s going to be witch costumes. Our oldest child had to read MacBeth when school started. To his (and our) surprise, he loved it. Especially the part about the 3 witches or weird sisters. We live quite near the Massachusetts town of Salem, known for Colonial witch trials and the many witches that reside their now. So we’ve been spending some Saturday afternoons visiting and looking for inspiration.
We’re definitely going to wear black witch robes. Many of the current day Salem witches appear to be partial to black clothing. They make their living telling fortunes, seeing into the future and even with spells and potions. So our yard will have a witch cauldron in it and our son and two of his sisters will be the three witches from Hamlet. For fun we’ll have bottles labeled with all sorts of fun potions. Their labels will guarantee A’s on exams and spells to clean rooms.
For humor there will be a Halloween door cover that shows a witch slammed into the door. For a touch of authenticity we’ll lay a broom off to the side. And of course we’ll all be in our costumes handing out candy.
There’s something liberating about being out on the side of the mountain, exposed to the weather and with nothing to keep you from harm but your own skills. I recently had that fantastic feeling out on the slopes of Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand. I’d read about the mountain on a list of things to do in Chiang Mai – I’ve lived there for six months, and I had no idea that such a high mountain was nearby.
I wanted to climb the mountain, but first I had to contend with the notorious Chiang Mai weather. At this time of the year the weather in Chiang Mai is often awful – the south west monsoon from India brings rain every single day, often heavy and often several times of the day. It can be dangerous up on the mountain with such heavy rain, as there are often mudslides.
Anyway, I found myself a good day to go, but at the last minute I was called away to Bangkok to help develop a Bangkok BTS guide for tourists coming to the city for the first time. The BTS, if you didn’t know, is the elevated train network that passes over the streets of Bangkok, and it can be a pain in the ass to use the network for the first time.
After finishing the job and returning to Chiang Mai I had to wait another two weeks to hit the mountain thanks to the Chiang Mai weather. There had been severe flooding all across Thailand -so bad that quite a lot of people died – so I couldn’t risk heading solo for the mountain in case of problems.
Anyway, this week I finally got out onto the mountain, and it was everything I’d hoped for and more. Up at over 7,500 feet the views are incredible, and it’s amazing to be up there alone. If you ever find yourself in Chiang Mai I really recommend you head up Doi Inthanon.
It’s that time of the year when leather jackets are being bought by people to get ready for the upcoming winter months. If you already have a leather jacket or leather coat it’s time to get them cleaned and/or repaired.
Most leather jackets or coats just need cleaning as they are dirty from use. But if you require repairs for your leather apparels almost each year it’s time to learn more about the selection of textiles. Most repairs for leather jackets can be easily avoided if we buy a high quality product to start with.
Most leather jackets repairs deal with fixing the lining. We need to keep fixing these linings regularly because of the poor quality of lining used in modern day coats and jackets.
Many leather coat and jacket manufacturers offer low priced products by placing a poor quality lining in their products. This helps them to get better sales as a coat with cheap lining looks nice though it may not feel superior.
When you buy a leather jacket or coat make sure it not only looks good but also feels great to wear. When you feel great to wear a coat it’s almost certain that you have got a great product which may not require too much care and maintenance.
